El departamento de Boyacá estrenó un nuevo tren turístico que comenzó a rodar oficialmente en octubre de 2025. El recorrido conecta los municipios de Paipa, Duitama, Nobsa y Sogamoso, ofreciendo una alternativa de transporte y recreación que busca impulsar el turismo regional y recuperar parte de la tradición ferroviaria del país. Los tiquetes están disponibles desde 15.000 pesos, con opciones que pueden variar según el horario y la demanda.

Este proyecto ferroviario no solo representa una apuesta cultural y turística, sino también una oportunidad para dinamizar la economía local. Los municipios incluidos en la ruta cuentan con una amplia oferta gastronómica, artesanal y hotelera, que ahora se verá fortalecida con la llegada de visitantes atraídos por la experiencia del tren.

El tren dispone de 156 asientos y está acondicionado con aire climatizado, baños modernos y detalles en madera en algunos de sus vagones. Una de sus mayores atracciones es el llamado “vagón legado”, restaurado con elementos originales que evocan la memoria histórica del transporte férreo en Colombia, convirtiéndolo en una experiencia que mezcla modernidad con tradición.

Con esta iniciativa, Boyacá se posiciona como uno de los primeros departamentos en retomar la operación de trenes con fines turísticos después de varias décadas de abandono de la red férrea. Autoridades y operadores esperan que este modelo sirva como ejemplo para replicar en otras regiones del país.

La ruta entre Paipa y Sogamoso se plantea como el inicio de un proceso más ambicioso que busca reactivar la movilidad ferroviaria nacional. En el futuro, se prevé ampliar los trayectos, consolidar la infraestructura y ofrecer paquetes turísticos integrados que incluyan recorridos culturales, visitas a pueblos patrimoniales y experiencias gastronómicas.

Tourist Train in Boyacá: route, towns and prices

The department of Boyacá has launched a new tourist train that officially began operating in October 2025. The route connects the towns of Paipa, Duitama, Nobsa, and Sogamoso, offering both transportation and recreation while boosting regional tourism and reviving part of the country’s railway tradition. Tickets are available starting at 15,000 pesos, with prices varying depending on schedule and demand.

This railway project is not only a cultural and tourist initiative but also an opportunity to strengthen the local economy. The towns along the route offer gastronomy, handicrafts, and hotel services that will now benefit from the arrival of visitors drawn by the train experience.

The train has 156 seats and is equipped with air conditioning, modern restrooms, and wood details in some of its carriages. One of its highlights is the “legacy carriage,” restored with original elements that preserve the historical memory of Colombia’s railway system, making the trip a blend of tradition and modern comfort.

With this initiative, Boyacá positions itself as one of the first departments to revive tourist trains after decades of decline in the railway network. Local authorities and operators hope this model will serve as an example to replicate in other regions of the country.
