El zootecnista Juan Diego Patiño Ochoa, del Partido Liberal, se convirtió en el nuevo gobernador de Risaralda al vencer por menos de dos puntos a Javier Darío Marulanda Gómez, de la coalición Sentimiento para Todos, en una reñida contienda electoral.

Los risaraldenses eligieron a su nuevo gobernador en una reñida contienda que se definió por menos de dos puntos porcentuales. El candidato del Partido Liberal, Juan Diego Patiño Ochoa, un zootecnista de 34 años, se alzó con la victoria logrando el 28,52% de los votos y superando a Javier Darío Marulanda Gómez, de la coalición Sentimiento para Todos, que obtuvo el 27,07%.

Patiño Ochoa es hijo del veterano político Diego Patiño Amariles, quien ha sido representante y gobernador de Risaralda. El gobernador electo fue diputado de la Asamblea departamental hasta julio de este año y presidió la Corporación en el 2020. Entre sus propuestas se destacan el fortalecimiento de la marca “Hecho en Risaralda”, la gestión de la construcción de dos sistemas férreos y la promoción turística del programa “Pueblos con Encanto”.

En el tercer puesto se ubicó Claudia Juliana Enciso Montes, de la coalición Podemos, con el 23,12% de los votos. Los otros dos candidatos fueron Daniel Silva Orrego, de la coalición Alternativo, con el 9,11% de los votos, y Eduardo Patiño Horta, del movimiento político Colombia Humana, con el 2,41% de los votos.

Juan Diego Patiño Ochoa asumirá el cargo de Gobernador de Risaralda, el próximo 1 de enero de 2024, y tendrá el reto de: liderar el desarrollo económico, social y ambiental del departamento.

Juan Diego Patiño Ochoa, of the Liberal Party, became the new governor of Risaralda by defeating Javier Darío Marulanda Gómez, of the Sentimiento para Todos coalition, by less than two points, in a close electoral contest.

The Risraldenses elected their new governor in a close race that was defined by less than two percentage points. The candidate of the Liberal Party, Juan Diego Patiño Ochoa, a 34-year-old zootechnician, won the victory, achieving 28.52% of the votes and surpassing Javier Darío Marulanda Gómez, of the Sentimiento para Todos coalition, who obtained 27 .07%.

Patiño Ochoa is the son of veteran politician Diego Patiño Amariles, who has been representative and governor of Risaralda. The elected governor was a deputy of the Departmental Assembly until July of this year and presided over the Corporation in 2020.
