Ejército Nacional ubicó depósito de municiones del GAO ELN en zona rural de Maicao, La Guajira

El material fue puesto a disposición de la autoridad competente, quien se encargará de adelantar los actos urgentes y la correspondiente investigación judicial.

En desarrollo del Plan de Campaña Ayacucho Plus, soldados del Grupo de Caballería Mecanizado N.° 10 General Gustavo Matamoros D?Costa de la Décima Brigada lograron la ubicación de un depósito ilegal de municiones perteneciente al Frente de Guerra Norte del grupo armado organizado ELN, en zona rural del municipio de Maicao, departamento de La Guajira.

Gracias a labores de inteligencia militar y en articulación con la Policía Nacional, se logró localizar este depósito clandestino donde se encontraron más de 5.870 cartuchos calibre 7,62 mm, 200 cartuchos calibre .222 para fusil remington y dos granadas de mano, que habrían sido destinados para fortalecer el accionar delictivo del ELN en esta zona del país.

Este hallazgo representa un golpe contundente a las estructuras logísticas del grupo armado organizado, que pretendía alterar el orden público y amenazar la tranquilidad de las comunidades del sector y adelantar atentos contra la Fuerza Pública. 
 
El Ejército Nacional, en coordinación con la Policía Nacional, continuará desarrollando operaciones militares sostenidas para afectar de manera directa los factores de inestabilidad que amenazan la seguridad en el departamento de La Guajira, reafirmando su compromiso con la protección de la población civil y la defensa de la soberanía nacional.

In the context of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, soldiers from the 10th Mechanized Cavalry Group, General Gustavo Matamoros D’Costa, of the Tenth Brigade, located an illegal ammunition depot belonging to the Northern War Front of the organized armed group ELN, in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Maicao, department of La Guajira.

Thanks to military intelligence work in coordination with the National Police, this clandestine warehouse was located, where more than 5,870 7.62 mm caliber cartridges, 200 .222 caliber cartridges for Remington rifles, and two hand grenades were found. These cartridges were allegedly used to strengthen the ELN’s criminal activities in this region of the country.

This discovery represents a significant blow to the logistical structures of the organized armed group, which sought to disrupt public order and threaten the tranquility of the communities in the area, as well as carry out attacks against the security forces.

The National Army, in coordination with the National Police, will continue to carry out sustained military operations to directly address the factors of instability that threaten security in the department of La Guajira, reaffirming its commitment to the protection of the civilian population and the defense of national sovereignty.
